Situated at an altitude of 2133 metres above the sea level, Kodaikanal is a beautiful hill resort in the Palani Hills. It's also called as "Princess of Hill Stations".The main attractions are Silver Falls, Cap View, Kodai Lake, parks and the famous Kurinji Malar which blossoms only once in every 12 years. Kodaikanal has a pleasant climate and can be visited throughout the year. Kodaikanal Lake
The lake in Kodaikanal is one of the famous tourist attractions. It’s just 3 kms from the bus stand. This star-shaped lake is situated 2285 m above the sea level and is noted for its clean water. The Golf Club is located 5 kms from the Kodaikanal Lake. Boating, Horse-riding, Cycling, Fishing(arranged by Fisheries Department) all these around this lake make Kodaikanal a perfect holiday resort.
Silver Cascade Falls
Situated 8 kms away from the main ghat road is the Silver Cascade Falls noted for its clean & pure water and so the name Silver Falls . The Kodai Lake overflows and falls down here from a height of 180 feet. It is a wonderful scenery not to be missed in Kodaikanal.
Coacker's Walk It is a narrow path (of length 1km) for pedestrians which runs along the steep mountains. A walk along this path will give you a delightful experience and one can view many places such as Pambar river, Dolphin's nose & birds eye view of Periyakulam from here.
Bryant Park
Bryant Park is a botanical garden where you can get a wide knowledge on Horticulture and the various flora here are a feast to our eyes. Every year, a show is conducted by the Horticulture Department during the month of May. A huge gathering exists for this exhibition.
Observatory This is the highest point in the Kodaikanal hills. We can study more about the celestial objects if we observe the sky from a great altitude. With this intention, this research centre was built in 1898. Its director John Evershed discovered the phenomenon of radial motion in sunspots and is known by his name as the Evershed Effect. The observatory has also got a well equipped laboratory. This spot is 6 kms away from Kodaikanal bus stand.
Telescope Houses
There are 2 telescope houses in Kodaikanal for the visitors to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding hills, valleys and nearby towns.
Kurinji Andavar Temple
This temple is around 2.5 kms from Kodai Lake and the Deity here is Lord Subramanya. According to Tamil Literature, Lord Subramanya is the God of 'Kurinji' i.e. the hilly region. The Palani Hills and the northern plains can be seen from here.
Pillar Rocks
This is the place where we can see 3 boulders measuring a height of about 122 m each standing side by side vertically offering a spectacular view.
Berijam Lake
Berijam lake which is 21 kms away from Kodaikanal is a beautiful picnic spot. The lake water is clean & pure and fulfills the requirements of the surrounding regions.
Dolphin's Nose
This is a spot where lies a flat rock at the edge of the hills, below which there is a great deep of about 6600 feet. This is an awe-inspiring sight though we have wonderful sights throughout the way. It is about 8 kms away from bus stand.
